Transparency and funding

Trust in a political test is earned by showing the accounts and the rules. This page explains how Affinité politique is funded, what rules it would follow if it ever had advertising or donations, and what we will never do with your data.

1. How we are funded

At the moment Affinité politique has no income of any kind: there is no advertising, no donations and no sale of reports. The costs are paid by the author, and no candidate, party, government or company pays anything. If there is ever advertising or donations, it will be announced on this page and they will work according to these rules:

  • Donations: Voluntary contributions from people who want to support the project, via Ko-fi with payment by PayPal. Three rules apply: we do not accept donations from candidates, political parties, party foundations or campaigns, and if we detect one we return it; each donation has a maximum of €500, and if a larger one arrives we return that too; and we will publish the total raised every year.
  • Google advertising: Google AdSense ads. They never appear in the questions, in your result, in shared results or in the comparison tool. They are never targeted using your answers or your result. If you accept advertising cookies, Google may personalise ads based on your browsing on other sites; if not, they are non-personalised.

2. Sponsorship and advertising policy

Rules we will apply to any advertiser or sponsor:

  • We never accept advertising or sponsorship from candidates, political parties, party foundations or campaigns. No exceptions.
  • We give no candidate or campaign free services, extra visibility or links to their donation pages. French electoral law forbids legal persons other than political parties, as well as foreign states and foreign legal persons, from funding a candidate’s campaign (Article L52-8 of the Electoral Code), and every candidate gets the same treatment on this site.
  • All sponsored content and affiliate links are clearly identified as advertising.
  • No advertiser influences the test questions, the positions of the candidates or the results.
  • Advertising is never targeted using your answers or your result. If you accept advertising cookies, Google may personalise ads based on your browsing on other sites; if not, they are non-personalised.

3. What we do (and do not do) with the data

We only publish aggregated data, with a minimum of one hundred tests per cell, which prevents anyone from being identified. You can see it in the public barometer.

Full details are in the privacy policy.

4. Who is behind it

Affinité politique is a personal, independent project, developed from Spain, with no connection to any candidate, party, campaign, government or the French electoral authorities. The test methodology is public and auditable: how your result is calculated.
